Simon Scrope of Danby - born 14th November, 1666


Simon Scrope, esq. of Danby, Yorkshire, England was the successor of his father Simon Scrope. He was born 14th November, 1666.

His first marriage was in 1693 to Mary, daughter of Robert Constable, Viscount Dunbar, with whom he had no children.

His second marriage was to Frances, daughter of Ralph Sheldon, esq. of Beoly in Worcestershire. They had children:

  • Simon Scrope - successor to his father
  • Henry-Joseph - a merchant at Leghorn; married Elizabeth, eldest daughter of G. Jackson, esq. consul at Genoa; had only daughter Frances; died 6th February, 1760
  • Mary-Dorothy - married Thomas Strickland, esq. of Sizergh
  • Frances - a nun
  • Catherine - married Roger Strickland, esq. of Richmond, Yorkshire

Simon Scrope died 28th February, 1723 and was succeeded by his son, Simon Scrope.
