Henry Scrope of Spennithorne and Danby

Henry Scrope of Spennithorne and Danby - born in 1520

Henry Scrope of Spennithorne was born in 1520. He was the son of John Scrope, second son of Sir Henry Scrope, 6th Baron Scrope of Bolton. He married on the 14th August, 1548 in Norton, Conyers, Yorkshire, England, Margaret, daughter and Heiress of Simon Conyers, of Danby upon Yore, in the county of York, and thereby acquired that estate. They had four children:

Francis Scrope - of Danby; married the daughter of Anthony Caterick, esq. of Stanwick, in Yorkshire
Henry Scrope
Christopher Scrope - of Spennithorne, representation of the family eventually devolved upon him
John Scrope - married Annne, daughter of Thoresby, and left a daughter and heiress Anne, who wedded Edward Topham, esq. of Aglethorp

Henry Scrope died 10 May 1590 in Danby-Upon-Yore, Yorkshire, England.
