Stephen Le Scrope - Of Castle Combe in Wilts


Stephen Le Scrope was the only son of Sir Stephen Le Scrope, Lord of Bentley in the County of Yorks, and of Castle Combe, in the County of Wilts, and Oxendon, in Gloucestershire.

After his father's death, Stephen became the ward of his mother's second husband, Sir John Fastolph. Fastolph enjoyed Stephen's inheritance for 51 years before he finally died.

He married Jane, daughter of Sir John Bingham, knt, with whom he had one son:

Stephen obtained his inheritance at an advanced age. He then succeeded to the estates and possessed them until his death in 1472.
